LICORICE HYSSOP, Blue Giant Hyssop, Anise Hyssop (Agastache foeniculum)
Licorice Hyssop (Agastache foeniculum) is similar in characteristics to Bergamot, where a variety of colours in flowers and also foliage have been developed. Golden leaves, variegations and petals colours ranging from white to deep purple.
Grow only in a full sun location due to mildews developing in shady spots. Well drained soil is best, but it can be anything from a poor soil to richer more fertile earth. Spread of an established plant is around 50cm.
Behaving as a perennial in milder climates, and ranging from a self seeding annual to biennial where weather is less temperate.
Flowers are highly attractive to bees and hover flies and flower at 1 - 1.3m at peak season in Summer & early Autumn.
Seedlings tend to be frost hardy for light frosts only. Seed germinated in situ will appear after weather becomes more mild
